AFPNEO (Association for Fundraising Professionals-Northeast Ohio Chapter) will present the 2017 Career Success Institute (CSI) on March 17th at Kent State University at Stark (North Canton). The CSI professional development workshop focuses on expanding best practices in fundraising for development professionals, board members, volunteers and professional advisors.

This year’s CSI – FILL YOUR POT WITH FUNDRAISING GOLD - features a new intensive workshop format led by Dr. Jerry Panas, Executive Partner of Jerold Panas, Linzy & Partners—one of the nation’s most highly regarded firms in the field of campaign services and financial resource development. His books are considered the most significant in the field. ASKING is the largest selling in the history of fundraising, and three are considered classics. In 2016, he was voted “America’s #1 Fundraising Expert” in Philanthropy Media. Because of the prominence of the firm and the impact of his writing, there are few who have had a greater influence in the history of the profession.

CSI Chair, Barbara Mucci adds “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from the leading expert in the world of philanthropy. Jerry’s high energy, interactive, “What I’ve Learned in 40 Years of Fundraising” program is a “must see” for first-time to long-time development officers, non-profit managers, board members and community volunteers in the region.”

Be the Cause ~  AFP Foundation is in service to philanthropy.  We give professional fundraisers a way to "give back", and help others support and advance philanthropy and careers in fundraising.  The goal of AFP Foundation is to generate the resources to fund AFP strategic initiatives that advance ethical and effective fundraising.

Please consider donating to the Be the Cause this year.  For more information on the program and how to donate on the Cincinnati website CLICK HERE.  Or visit the IHQ website for full details.

Public Library Resources ~ The Grant Resource Center collection consists of books on fundraising (general, foundation, corporate, etc.), proposal writing and budgeting, as well as books on issues vital to nonprofit administration, such as board governance, using social media, nonprofit law, etc.  The primary research tool grankseekers use is the Foundation Directory Online Professional, which consists of 100,000 foundations, corporate giving programs, and grantmaking public charities in the U.S.  They also provide access to a new Foundation Center database called Philanthropy Insight, which combines data on grankmakers and their grants with Google maps.  These databases are only accessible at the main library.  For more information call 369-6900 or visit them online at http://www.cincinnatilibrary.org/.

Ethics Moments ~ Ethics Moments are presented at each monthly program meeting.  We encourage members to use the self-assessment tool on the IHQ website.

The AFP Ethics Assessment Inventory (EAI) allows association members to examine the alignment between their personal ethical performance, that of the organizations in which they work, and their peers within AFP.  Ultimately this will help assure that a fundraiser is treating donors with utmost respect and care, building and fostering strong relationships, and maximizing the effectiveness of donations. (per IHQ website)

Looking for volunteers/board members for your organization?  We recommended reaching out to http://www.charitableadvisors.com/ and United Way http://www.uwgc.org/for-nonprofits.  Your volunteers are welcome to attend AFP’s educational programs to learn about fundraising and network with other fundraising professionals.
